How can we help?
Getting started
How do I create an account?
Go to Sign up, enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters, and confirm you are 18 or older. Then fill in your name, birth date and city, pick 3 to 10 interests, and add a photo.
I forgot my password
Email us at support@getlomma.com from the email address on your account. We will send you a temporary password. After you log in, change it from My account → Change password.
What is my ID and username?
Every account has a permanent ID (for example 100013) and a username (for example @nour.cairo). Your ID never changes. You can change your username anytime from My account. Friends can find you with either one from Friends → Find by ID or username.
How do I switch between Arabic and English?
Tap the EN / عربي button at the top of any page. Your choice is saved to your account.
Discover & friends
How does Discover work?
Discover shows you one person at a time, starting with the people who share the most interests with you. The circle at the top of the card shows how much you have in common.
- ❤️ or swipe right: send a friend request.
- ✕ or swipe left: skip. They won't show up again.
- ✈ Message: send a short intro. If they only accept messages from friends, it is sent with a friend request.
- ↶ Undo: bring back the last person you skipped or liked.
Tap the card to see more photos, and tap ⓘ to open the full profile.
Why am I not seeing many people?
Lomma is still growing. Try choosing more interests, or widen the age range and maximum distance from My account → Privacy and discovery. Sharing your location also helps us find people near you.
What happens when we both like each other?
If someone already sent you a friend request and you tap ❤️ on their card, you become friends right away and can start chatting.
Is there a limit on friend requests?
Yes, there is a daily limit on new friend requests to keep Lomma free of spam.
Chat
Who can message me?
By default, only your friends. You can change this to anyone or no one from My account → Who can message me. People attending the same event can talk in the event chat.
Replies, voice messages and reactions
- Reply: tap "Reply" under a message, or swipe the message on your phone.
- Voice message: when the message box is empty, tap the microphone (2 minutes max). Your browser will ask for microphone permission the first time.
- React: press and hold a message on your phone, or tap "React".
- Photos: tap a photo to view it full screen, zoom, download it, reply or react.
Can I delete a message?
Yes. Tap "Delete" under your message. Everyone in the chat will see that it was deleted. You can also mute a chat, or delete it for yourself only, from the ⋯ menu.
What does "Seen" mean?
In one-to-one chats, "Seen" appears under your last message once the other person has opened the chat.
Communities & events
How do communities work?
A community brings people together around one interest. Public communities are open to anyone. In private communities, the owner approves who joins and posts are visible to members only.
How do I host an event?
Go to Events → Host an event. Always choose a public place such as a café, court, club or library. If the event is full, new people join a waitlist and get in automatically, in order, when a spot opens.
What is the event chat?
When you sign up for an event, its group chat opens for you. If you cancel your spot, you leave the chat.
Safety & privacy
What does the blue badge mean?
It means our team checked a selfie against the person's profile photos and confirmed they are the same person. You can request it from My account → Verify your account. Only the review team sees your selfie.
How do I block or report someone?
Open their profile and tap Report or block. You can also report posts, comments, communities and events from the ⋯ menu. Reports are confidential, and our team reviews every one.
